London Tube map makeover...

Designer Mark Noad has created a more geographically version of the london tube map. I've always enjoyed Harry Becks 1931 design for the map visually and for its function. This redesign is interesting in dealing with distance and scale. Noad is 'said to be planning to take the new map viral by launching a new app for smart phones 'view and download a pdf version of the map here.

Mr Bingo...

Mr Bingo has a really interesting and quirky illustration portfolio, my particular favorite pieces of work are the skateboarding dog and the 'skatebeard' pictured above.

Trainspotting 15 years old...

"Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting film is 15 years old this month. The designers of its iconic, often copied, Helvetica-sporting posters, Mark Blamire (now of Blanka and Print-Process) and Rob O’Connor of Stylorouge, talk to us about working on the project and how they arrived at the designs for the film's poster campaign..."

Theres a really interesting interview over at creative review about the iconic British film Trainspotting.

Its really interesting hearing about the process and struggles they went through to come up with the final product check it out HERE.

Creative Review gets a new look...

For this April's issue of creative review they have undergone a redesign with a 'new size, new paper, new typography and, yes, a new logo'

There resons for the redesign are because 'Last month we celebrated our 30th birthday. It seemed the perfect moment to reinvent the magazine if we wanted to ensure its continued success over the next three decades.'

'There are two specific aims for the redesign: to create a better physical product and to get across the repositioning of our editorial stance that has been developing over the past two years.'

Personally the new design looks more intriguing and I am really interested in see what the 'new size' will be as there old large square format was something in play for them since the beginning of production.

Jack Featherstone...

It's Nice That Talk #12 – Jack Featherstone from It's Nice That on Vimeo.

I found out about this designer though W210 and came across a Graduate talk on his website. I found this talk really interesting as it told a good story of him going mainly through University and after but what i liked most was the body of work of which he had, going from typography to animation and various other formats but with each one held his own particular style.

Here is his website which i found really inspiring particularly The Count And Sinden - Visuals and Play With Type.

London Transport Museum...

This is a selection of vintage London public Transport posters within the London Transport Museum. I went there last year on a trip with fellow Art Foundation members and I would really recommend going there to anyone else. Alot of really nice typography and images around there.
